We recently had an in-depth conversation with the self-made, self-produced SGR Luciano. He has a lot of things going on, here’s what he had to say…..
MBB: Tell us, where is SGR Luciano originally from and where does he reside now?
SGR: I’m from Cleveland Ohio originally. My mother moved to Mississippi when I was a teenager. It was a rough transition coming from City to country like that but life is about how you adapt to your surroundings. I learned my new environment and made the best of it. I’m currently still in Mississippi. A little town nobody really hear about called Weir, but I’m about to change all that.
MBB: What are a few ways you market your music different than others?
SGR: When it comes to marketing my music and reaching new people I really use several methods. I’m also a DJ so I of course I spin my music at gigs, but mostly just interacting with others finding out what they listen to music on and make sure my music is available on their preferred app. I learned the importance of having my music on as many platforms as possible, you have to understand your not just asking a fan to play your music if your music is only in one place. What if they don’t have the one app your music is on? Your now asking someone to download a new app set up a new profile fimd your music and then play your music, some may do it but majority will just tell you they will check it out and never do lol.
MBB: “3rd Row Down” is fire! As you say you’re sick with the flow. How long have you been rapping?
SGR: Everybody that streamed or purchased my album loves that song. And it was really just a freestyle song. I was just killing time waiting on a session and played the beat and took off. I been rapping since a kid really just following in my oldest brothers foot steps. I don’t even write music any more hits come natural. All my life rapping was just a hobby. I Neva really put any money into it until maybe 25, 26 years old once I really just got established and situated far as living goes. I came from the struggle so any money I had was goin towards a better living condition not music.
MBB: Who would you like to work with, and what can we expect from you musically in 2020?
SGR: I always visioned a SGR Luciano, Rod Wave and Moneybagg Yo collaboration. I feel like that would be one of the hardest songs ever. You might not hear it this year but it’s coming. What you can expect from me this year is the SGR Luciano “This Is Me” Take Over Tour. I posted on Facebook that I was about to start my tour and a day later the shows started coming. Im currently locking in dates now for September and October. Feel good to be finally getting paid to perform. And also to be performing at out of town venues.

MBB: Who is doing the majority of your production right now?
SGR: I do my own production. Every house I ever lived in had to have two bedrooms, one for me and one for my studio. I have always owned my own studio but my current one is by far the best quality one I’ve had as it shows on my last album that dropped July 17 called This Is Me, go check it out if you haven’t already.
