Music Boombox recently sat down with the CEO of Money Geek & EST Drip Clothing. He talks about his start in the fashion world and also shares some new music with us. Here’s what he had to say:
MBB: Explain the concept behind “EST Drip”
TERRENCE: Drip is a fashionable slang that is widely used so I wanted to infused that with my niche and make it applicable to everyone! In order to do that I combined my money based niche and broke down an acronym for meaning of drip being deposits, revenue, income, and profit because that goes with getting the youth and even adults in the mind frame of what these words mean and how they can achieve these words and bring to fruition. It’s not heavily geared towards being expensive or if you’re wearing this, then you are above someone else. I want you to feel as though you are capable of accomplishing all of those things and acquire wealth to be able to provide for your families family. It’s the knowledge and the meaning that carries this style! I love this collection in my Money Geek Clothing Line!
MBB: How did you get into fashion?
TERRENCE: What’s funny is I never grew up thinking that I wanted to do anything even remotely dealing with clothing! This all came from a vision I had and the ultimate urge to want to make a difference and thinking how could I do just that. While constantly thinking how I could make an impact, I was disturbed at the negative images that were getting pushed out to the youth and the lack of knowledge in certain areas that hurt a culture with a large percentage of buying power. From the moment I had the vision which was so powerful I couldn’t sleep and cause me to get up and place my thoughts down at that very moment! Once I had it down it was just a matter of implementing a plan that would set everything into motion and I was all in, ready to take the good with the bad while learning how to execute the presentation of the product!
MBB: Did the music come first or was it the clothes, and which one is your true passion?
TERRENCE: Definitely the music came first! I have to think that some of the things I’ve learned with marketing of music helped me tremendously with the marketing of the clothing. I was able to utilize some of the same contacts who were all for entrepreneurship! I can say that both are passions equally but definitely the music came first and now I’m excited to infuse them together! I’ve always been a person to try to issue a message within my music so this is no different than trying to get my message out in another form. Even though I’m not actively recording as much as I once was, I’m still active with executive production on projects as well as writing for artist. My clothing brand gives me an opportunity to release some exclusive music with exclusive clothing in a way that markets both!
MBB: How long have you been rapping and What can we expect this year from you in music?
TERRENCE: I will say I have at least 15 years in so I’m very versed and selective with my content! My content has always been about personal situations and about uplifting the culture! I know and understand the power of words and since we live in a visual age in which visuals have become important also, its vital to me to project positive images through both! I’m currently working on some projects that I’m excited about as executive producer! I’ve Just release the Single “Est Drip” which actually explains that particular collection within Money Geek Apparel and I’m working on more singles currently for other collections! It’s a different style of marketing but I feel as though my methods aren’t like anyone else’s which makes me different and I’m good with that!
MBB: Which industry artists would you most like to work with and why?
TERRENCE: I would like to work with Clifford TI Harris because I believe he gets it!” It” being the need to change and shift our culture for the greater good and I respect his entrepreneur ventures he’s executed! I’d also like to work with Sean P Diddy Combs for those same reasons and pick the business mind of the mogul. Lastly I’d like to say rest in power Nipsey Hussle! I really respect his work and contribution to the culture and his dream will forever live on! Rest Well King!
