Lillian Carter has filed a lawsuit against Marion “Suge” Knight, pointing her finger at the former C.E.O. of Death Row Records for the wrongful death of her husband, Terry Carter. Knight is seen on surveillance video running over her husband with his truck during a conflict outside of a restaurant in Compton, Ca.
along with Suge, the three other’s named in the suit are Universal Pictures, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. It is not known if they were present on the Jan 29th incident, but it is alleged that they did not do enough to keep Suge knight away from the movie set. Terry Carter was killed when Knight barreled over him and another man named Cle “Bone” Sloan, who was on the set working as security. Sloan recovered from his injuries but refused to testify against Knight in court.
Suge, 50, was charged with murder and attempted murder after he arrived on the set to talk with Dr. Dre and Ice Cube about his likeness being portrayed in the film. A fight escalated and Lilian Carter alleges that Knight “carelessly, recklessly, violently, and negligently” accelerated his vehicle toward Bone, critically injuring him and killing her husband.
The court documents also depict Knight as a convicted felon, and claim that Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Universal Pictures, are indirectly responsible for the outcome of the tragedy. Attorney Howard King, who represents Dr. Dre was quoted as saying the charges are “preposterous”.
Ice Cube and Universal have not made any comments.
Suge Knight faces a mandatory life sentence of 25 years in prison If found guilty.
